I’ve noticed within the last year or so that Crocs have begun to reemerge on social media, especially VSCO, Pinterest and Instagram.
They are the basic person’s shoes.
You can be even more basic if you match either your phone case or Hydroflask to your Crocs. Then you really are basic.
So I dug my old Crocs out that I got when I was 12 (coincidentally purchased at the store that I have been working at for the last 3 years.) and grabbed some socks, put them both on and went out into the world.
At first, all I could think was “Why in the world am I doing this to myself? This looks absolutely horrendous. All my dignity is leaking out of those holes…”
Then, acceptance started to set in. The Crocs actually weren’t THAT uncomfortable, and as long as I didn’t stare at them too long, it wasn’t too bad.
Then love for my Crocs started to happen. They were actually pretty comfy and lightweight. Maybe I should buy another pair in a fun, pretty, bright color!
I looked at Crocs online.
No way in the ever-loving name of all things fashionably unfashionable am I going to spend over $30 for a pair of soft foamy plastic shoes.
I will love my ugly Crocs for now.
I’m sure I’m losing my dignity through those holes every time I wear them, but at this point, as long as they’re comfy, I don’t mind.
I’m Croc-ing all day long, therefore, I’m rocking all day long.
I have no shame.
Until Next Time
