ZAM Artisans French Macarons

I believe that macarons might just be my new favorite cookie.
They are delicate, pretty, full of flavor, and perfect with a cup of tea.

I am excited to be doing a round two review for the online shop
ZAM Artisan Chocolates.
If you remember, a few weeks ago, I did a review on a box of French candy that
the company graciously sent me.
If you didn’t see that post, please click >>>HERE<<<

I was sent a box of french macarons to review shortly afterwards, and I couldn’t have been any more thrilled! I just love macarons!

When I received the box, I made the STUPID mistake of shaking it, because I did not see the shop logo on the outside of the box, and I was curious as to what was inside….

So when I opened the box, I found two of the pink boxes pictured below, along with the pretty paper napkin and business card!
Can we take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous that napkin is?!
I did not use it, and stuck it in a scrapbook for safe-keeping!
🙂
I also love the pink boxes that the macarons came in.
I cleaned them out and am using them to store a set of lip glazes now (it’s a perfect fit!)
I received a variety of flavors:
Lemon, Lavender-Blueberry, Mango, Yuzu-Ginger, Chocolate, Caramel, Coconut, Strawberry,
and Lime-Basil.
Please note, that macarons are very fragile cookies….and I shook the box that they were in.
Seriously WHAT WAS I THINKING?!
So if they are a bit cracked, please understand that that was because of my own foolishness.
It did NOT affect the taste however!   I’m going to do what I did with the candies, and talk about my top three favorite flavors,
so let’s get started!  #1. Lemon.
This flavor of macaron really did taste like fresh lemon.
It was absolutely delicious!
The outside cookie shell was nice and crunchy, and the filling had just enough tang to it to counteract the sweetness of the cookie shell.
I ate this macaron very slowly, savoring every single bite!
I would absolutely go and purchase a whole box of just the lemon macarons!
These are definitely my number one favorite!
#2. Chocolate
The chocolate macaron was an absolutely lovely flavor.
It was not as sweet as some of the other macarons, and the filling was superb!
In case you are curious about the filling, it was chocolate/cream ganache! It really added a nice creamy texture to the macaron.
  #3. Lime Basil
This is one of the new macarons that the shop has to offer, and as you all know, I am a huge sucker for citrus flavors!
I grew up eating pesto that my mom cooked for dinner, so I am used to the flavor of basil.
This macaron really fascinated me, as I picked up on the flavor of lime first, and then
tasted the basil.
These are two flavors that most people would not think to put together, but I completely love it!
I give this flavor a huge thumbs up!  I’m going to add in a #4 to this list, because I also really wanted to mention a second new flavor macaron that the shop made.
Lavender-Blueberry!
This macaron was a bit of a mystery to me at first, because I completely had forgotten that there would be a blueberry flavor in with the lavender.
The first thing that I noticed was the lavender flavor, and all I could think was that it tastes exactly the way it smells. And that doesn’t bother me at all.
My Mum actually has a large lavender plant growing in our side garden.
Then I got to the blueberry flavor, and could not figure out why I was tasting what seemed to be blueberry!
(Hmm…maybe because it WAS blueberry and I had forgotten! Silly me!)
Once I realized that there was blueberry in it as well, I could finally appreciate the whole macaron!
It’s really a fun and interesting taste, so if you are interested in trying something new and different, I’d suggest this!

So I hope that you enjoyed this post, as I had a really fun time prepping for it, as well as writing it!
